According to Dr. Robert O. Young's book, "Sick and Tired", the New Biology , most simply stated, is that the over-acidification of the body is the single underlying cause of all disease. Dr. Young has found that when the body is in healthy alkaline balance, germs are unable to get a foothold.

Think of your body as a fish tank. Think of the importance of maintaining the integrity of the internal fluids of the body that we "swim" in daily. Imagine the cells in your body are fish and they are swimming in the fluids of your body. Most of us are polluting our fish tanks (bodies) with junk food, smoking, over consumption of acid-forming foods, and any number of transgressions which compromise the delicate balance of our internal alkaline fluids.

The Truth about Acidity: The Acid Problem

  • Acidity & Inflammation: Did you know inflammation can be a good thing? Acute inflammation is the body’s natural response to begin the healing cycle. When completed, the immune system returns to normal functions. However, chronic inflammation can be extremely harmful to your health.
  • Chronic Inflammation: This malfunction of the immune system occurs when the body produces excessive pro-inflammatory agents that work unchecked by the immune system. This condition leads to a chronic state of low-grade metabolic acidosis and eventually, inflammatory related diseases.
  • Inflammation Related Diseases: Allergies, Alzheimer’s, Anemia, Arthritis, Cancer, Congestive Heart Failure, Fibromyalgia, Fibrosis, Heart Attack, Kidney failure, Lupus, Pancreatitis, Psoriasis, Stroke.

 

  • Acidity & Lyme Disease: Lyme disease is initially brought on by an infection of pathogenic bacteria called Borrelia burgdorferi. This bacteria is usually spread by a bite from an infected deer tick. They burrow into the skin transmitting the harmful bacteria to their new victims.
  • Lyme disease is a set of symptoms surrounding an acidic inflammation caused by an abundance of the bacteria, B. burdorferi. This is an acid loving bacterium; therefore “alkalizing” your internal environment is a helpful step toward improved health and a solution for becoming disease free.

 

  • Acidity & The Colon: The typical American diet includes processed foods, red meat, soda, coffee, and sugar. This overly acidic diet, in addition to polluted air, toxic water and stress, has harmful effects on the colon. The average American has ten pounds of undigested food in their colon at any given time! Cholesterol is used to line the walls of your blood vessels to protect them from structural damage caused by strong acids in the blood. These are the result of a typical acidic diet. Over time, the protective cholesterol begins to build up excessively and clogs the arteries. This leads to high blood pressure and an overstrained heart. Furthermore, the crystallized uric acid leads to gout.
  • “Dr. Kancho Kuminaka, one of the pioneers of the alkaline water treatment in Japan, states that virtually without exception, the patients with high blood pressure have an acidosis condition,” said Sang Wang in his 1990 book Reverse Aging.

 

  • Acidity & Diabetes: In a healthy, alkaline body, special cells in the pancreas called beta cells produce insulin, which is used to bring sugar from the blood into hungry living cells. A healthy balance of sugar and insulin must be maintained in the blood at all times. Having too much of either for too long can lead to diabetes. Dr. Hidemitsu Hayashi said, “Diabetes is believed to be caused by insufficient secretions of insulin from beta cells in the pancreas. In modern medical science, an active enzyme called a free radical is said to be involved in insufficient secretions of insulin. (Alkaline water) releases free radicals out of the body.”

The left over acid can damage the esophagus, larynx, and digestive tract, and can even lead to cancer of the esophagus. The production of stomach acid (HCl) is a very important part of the digestion cycle, but the stomach produces far more acid in a day than it can hold. HCl is only produced when the body is digesting food, but before contents of the stomach can continue through the digestive tract, that acid must be neutralized.

**ORP is Oxidation Reduction Potential and is equated to Anti-oxidant levels. A positive number adds to the highest amount oxidation inside the body. The negative number equates to the increased amount of anti-oxidant levels.

Most of the brand name water not only has all the problems associated with plastics and petrochemicals from the container (being ingested and stored in the body), but the water is put through a reverse osmosis system to make the taste consistent in the bottling process.
